Shooting Spree Photography Update

Here I am, 6 months after my previous post. Thankfully Sangeetha has decided to play a part in the blogging duties as well. That takes the pressure of my already aching shoulders.

The build up is here now. Humidity has risen and the storm clouds have rolled in over the Top End. We have had some showers in recent days as well which is definitely a welcoming relief after nearly 5 months without rain. I do enjoy the dry season which is supposed to be cool. Unfortunately we haven't had much of a dry season in terms of the temperature. It has been a hot, dry season and therefore I have been itching to get over this.

Just thought I'd do an update on where I am in terms of my photography. As you might have read from Sang's previous posts, I have entered some competitions although the achievements in that are nothing to shout about. But hey, its a start. Business wise, I have gotten a couple of contracts over the past few months and hopefully this builds on from here. I have also spent many long hours in George's studio editing photos. Unfortunately, I am not as fast as he would like me to be. I am still taking about 5 hours per wedding. Most of the time, I would have to cull the photos from 3000 odd to about 1200 photos and then edit those. Edits are usually minor edits like fine-tuning exposure as well as straightening images and cropping away some bits.

I definitely prefer shooting and the number of hours I have spent behind computers (work, studio and home) in the past 2 months is unbelievable. It seems to have taken a toll on my health. Most days I am too tired and lethargic to exercise. I know this is an excuse and I am seeing to it that this is put behind me. My neck and back has been aching for the past week at least and my right wrist seems to be injured (hairline fracture? strain?) for some unfathomable reason.

The experiences I have garnered in the past 3 or 4 months have been immense. But they have definitely come at a cost. Its a hurdle I will cross over the next few weeks as things get quieter thanks to the wet.

For now, I can't wait to get to Tasmania in December. It will be a good break to enjoy some nice cool weather and enjoy cool mountainous air. In recent weeks, we have made some new friends. Luke and Sarah from NT Bird Specialists and have asked them to come along for our Tasmanian tale.

Before ending this post, we were at Fogg Dam last night with Mark and Sue. We went there for sunset and stayed till dark to do some spotlighting for crocs. Unfortunately, all we got were heaps of flies and night herons.

Tomorrow Nathini arrives so Thiru is surely elated. 5 days later, Leo will join them and that would bring them both immense joy. Its Deepavali next week as well so we will have some mini gathering at home possibly.

Anyways, its Liverpool vs Man Utd tonight so that is going to be fun!
