Juvenile Collared Sparrowhawk and How Recycling Works - A Quick Update

First off, we did not make it to Howard Springs as both our track shoes were still drying from the rain last night. We therefore decided to alter our Saturday plans.

Our apartment had been a cardboard and polyfoam dumpstore for the past week. The reason for that was the central rubbish bins that are outside the apartment were only meant for small recyclable items like plastic bottles and newspapers. There was a sign that clearly warned us from dumping huge recyclable waste there. A quick Google search told us that our recycling stuff had to make its way to Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility. It was a 20 min drive from where we were.

Sang and I spent the morning sorting out the stuff and organising everything so that it could all fit into the car. In fact there was so much that we were worried  we would have to make two trips. Midway through the organising, Sangeetha calmly mentioned to me that there was a big brown bird in the tree across the street. We headed to the balcony and spent about 10 min trying to get a better look at it as there were many leaves in the way. Eventually, out came the binoculars and once we realised that it was a raptor munching on a dead rat, out came the camera. We made our way down to get a good look (and photo of it).

Once back at the apartment, we headed down to Shoal Bay. It was a pretty interesting site for the both of us as we had never been to a junkyard before. Anyway, dumping the items was a quick task and we found ourselves sharing a nice lamb kebab for lunch just outside the JB Hi-Fi store. Beside it was a pet store which we duly visited. Adorable zebra finches were going at 10 a piece while the prices of fishes were crazy.  A gourami that usually costs less than $2 in Singapore cost $12.99 here.

Our Dinner
Back at our apartment we started preparing for dinner. We were going to cook masala chicken when we realised we were short of some ingredients. Coles and back... And we started on the meal preparation. It turned out alright but we had much trouble cooking as we had to manage with small utensils as our main shipment is not due to arrive till 20 Feb. So that's it for our Saturday.
