What a Weekend

Sang and I just returned from our dinner at Cucina. The last time we were there was 9 months ago and we had vowed never to return. Somehow today, we felt that we should give them another chance to redeem themselves. Also because we had not had pasta in a long time. Anyways, we headed to East Point for a brief photography session before making our way to Cucina. When we entered, we were the only ones there (it stayed that way throughout the course of our 1 hour dinner).

Surprisingly, the food we ordered was much better than it was 9 months ago. The staff were friendly and at the end of our dinner even offered us free tea/coffee and a cookie. We were quite puzzled as this was a stark contrast to our previous experience. As we got up, we asked Theresa, the staff who served us, if they had undergone a change in management. To that she replied that a new management had taken over just a week back and she was new as well. Now that explains it! Anyways, long story short, I don't think we would rule out a dinner there in future.

Moving on, I just had a fantastic (but tiring) weekend. It was one filled with an overdose of photography (and videography). Early last week, Mel Silva, who is a renown wedding photographer in Darwin, texted me to assist her for an event on Saturday. No rewards for guessing my reaction. The event went smoothly on Saturday and I was glad to be of assistance when called upon. Yesterday, I spent about 7 hours being amazed by Rocco Ancora who was in Darwin to conduct a photography workshop. It was so fantastic and I left the workshop buzzing with energy to experiement with portraits.

It has been almost 8 months since we moved to Darwin. Hang on a minute... I know I said we were at Cucina 9 months ago. That was because we went there when we were on our Darwin holiday. Back to story, we have now been residents in Darwin for close to 8 months. Seriously, time has just zipped by in this beginning year with so many happy moments and wonderful events. The dry season is over and the rains have arrived and we wonder how bad the famed buildup is going to be. Looking forward to the next few months and a crazy December.
